    California Art Pottery at it's very finest!
    Oil jar.
    Large
    & impressive at just under 16" tall. Unsigned. The glaze seems to best match descanso green or apple-green contrasted by a rust-oxblood drip. Max Compton was experimenting with oxblood in 1937 but we believe the red clay identifies this piece as from pre-1932 Catalina Island. Also, late 1930s GMB/Franciscan pieces were mostly molded but this piece is hand pottered, almost certainly coiled. The clay coils or, if wheel thrown, the potter's finger rings are visible inside & out. Spectacular! There is a chip on the bottom (see pics). Very large at about 15 3/4" tall. Shipping will be .95 to any U.S. address (.00 foreign).
