Rare Pre-1920s Foxy Grandpa Antique Carnival Cane Topper - Never Seen One Before

[This piece came out of a recent collection that I bought of carnival canes. I have tried researching this one and cannot find another like it. Some would say that the head was stuck on at a later time, but I have researched all the different Foxy Grandpa character toys and figures and I cannot find this head on anything.]
This is a German-made red clay carnival cane topper of Foxy Grandpa from the comic strip. It does not have your typical 1930s wood cane but the earlier 1900-1920s bamboo cane. You can see that this head was not taken off something else and carved to fit this. The way it is on the cane is how it was originally made and fired. You can still see traces of white and black paint. The clay is a typical red clay that was made in Germany and used on a lot of the small Cracker Jack and penny toys. You can see there is some very old muslin or canvas-type material that is jammed between the head and the cane to keep it secure. To me it does not look like this was added later.
The head measures 1-3/8" tall and is quite round. There are some very minor flakes in the paint but no cracks. Total length is 35". This would probably date to around 1910-1920. I'd guess that this is a very scarce cane topper.
