Description
Give A Dog A Bone "Ringo" London Westminster Theater original costume sketch by Dorothy Phillips circa 1963. You can watch a film of the production on vimeo! Not sure when the opening night was of Give A Dog A Bone. Design is from around 1962-1963, as a fellow ebayer informed me. (FYI his father was music director!) Signed, with fabric swatches attached. Acquired in Los Angeles estate sale. Measures 11x14.Below is an excerpt describing the production organization:
"After the war in Britain, hundreds donated money for the purchase of the Westminster Theatre in London, as a living memorial to the men and women of Moral Re-Armament who had died in war service. Many servicemen gave their gratuities. For the next 50 years the Theatre presented a host of plays and musicals focusing on the moral and spiritual base on which a just and democratic society depends. One of the best-known was the pantomime Give a Dog a Bone, which ran every Christmas for many years, to the delight of thousands of children."
