    Invading hoards, ambitious empires, and the cultural divide between East and West, have left the Balkan peninsula (south-east Europe) with a legacy of continual conflict.” This study of the Balkans looks at the history, the ethnic groups, and the countries, plus the plight of the refugees. One-side of this map contains a classic National Geographic political map of the Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, as well as the outlying border countries of Greece and the small European portion of Turkey.)

    Included are map insets of the area during the Ottoman Empire, pre-WWI, and after WWII; plus insets with country and ethnic details. The reverse-side titled “Plight of the Refugees” contains a world map showing countries where refugees are coming from and those countries are being resettled, with a brief discussion of each.
    Map measures approximately 20” x 30”.
